Dr Gary Fettke - Nutrition and cancer – Time to rethink
Nutrition and cancer â?? Time to rethink Dr Gary Fettke
In 1931 Otto Warburg received the Nobel Prize for showing that cancer cells have an absolute requirement to use glucose for their energy requirements since they lack proper mitochondrial function for oxidizing fats. This suggests that nutritional factors in particular low or high carbohydrate diets might influence cancer outcomes differently. In my presentation I will present the evidence showing that certain cancers may be carbohydrate-dependant and may be positively influenced by the ingestion of low carbohydrate ketogenic diets which reduce the provision of glucose to the tumour cells.
