To learn more about updates to the Nutrition Facts label, read this FDA Consumer Update: https://www.fda.gov/ForConsumers/Cons...
The new serving size is based on the amount most people actually eat and drink today. Calories, the number of servings per container, and the serving size are now larger and in bold type. Added sugars are now included. The list of nutrients includes vitamin D and potassium. Vitamins A and C are no longer required. And the footnote better explains percentage of daily value in the context of a 2,000 calorie a day diet. Companies have until 2020 before the new label is required, but some have already started using it. So, until the deadline, you may see the original label, or the new, improved label. Both versions provide useful information.
